Mark's Revolution JB Pro thread and other unrelated complete and utter nonsense
First topic message reminder :
It took a while to get here, I finally collected my latest kite from ParcelFarce this afternoon... after having paid a £20 customs/carrier fee... though it could have been much worse.

This is the first time I have handled Race Rods, they feel so much lighter than the 3 wrap's I'm used to using.
Indoors the red and orange are looking a bit too similar but hopefully if I ever take it outdoors it will look quite different against the sky.
I've not seen weights quoted for this model but on my cheapo kitchen scales it comes in at just a smidgeon over 8oz or about 235g in new money.
Think it needs a black bridle. Comes in a nice bag with 2 pockets. All in all - very impressed!

Ceratinly was a great day's flying, hardly a cloud in the sky, and after me and Bruce gave the Rev 1's a fly for an hour at the end we are nearly members of the knuckle dragger's club. Roger put me onto a windproof neck gaiter, much better than the scarf I usually wear kept me toasty warm and not so bulky, came from the Mountain Warehouse two for £12.99

Times like these...
Times like these...
I've had a pretty depressing past few days and was desperately wanting to fly my kite, other commitments meant that it had to be later in the day, the wind was rapidly decreasing but I just had to get out (preferably alone) and have some time to myself.
I grabbed a kite, threw caution to the wind and framed it up with my so far un-used race-rods, extended handles and 50lb line. I arrived at the field thinking I was wasting my time as the wind had all but gone but I walked across the other side and found a slight breeze, I set up and a short sharp pull on the lines had the kite airborne and I remember thinking to myself I had forgotten to start the engine... and from then on I was transported into a magical forget-all-your-troubles kiting bliss!
It's kind of hard to describe but for the first time I really felt the kite was almost a part of me, the kite flew so slow and graceful, long sweeping turns, hovers and ground hugging passes with the occasional spin thrown in, all that was missing was the music. We even had a pretty orange sky to put some colour back into the failing light. Many times I reminded myself of the lack of wind on the back of my neck and how seemingly easy it was keeping the kite flying, I'm sure someone was on my side.
A passer by stopped for a while a way behind me then eventually came closer and said she could stand there all evening watching the display.
I stopped shortly after I could no longer see my lines and wishing that it should have been a moon-lit evening but came home a much, much happier person!

I just had an email from an internet retailer re revolution kites and spares, they said they have no stock at all due to Revolution falling out with the UK distributor.
Any one have any gen/rumours/facts/gossip about this?
Are Kiteworld the UK distributors?
Wouldn't have thought it would be so difficult throwing money at the wind!

Huh, extended range?
The Zen is new, the Pro is listed again (it was removed when they had the 12% off two week deal a while ago).
No 1.5 4 wrap spars, no 1" end caps, no 2" end caps, no strut caps to name a few - then there's the massive price increases on a lot of the Rev spares range, ie 3 wrap spar was £9.99, now £13.99!
I wasn't questioning Kiteworlds stock - rather Rev supplies to other retailers which appears non-existent.
Good luck with the Zen.

the last time i looked (yonks ago) there was half what is there now.
i know nowt.
there's more chance of gary barlow picking me up in a bugatti veyron with a cheque for 20 billion squid than santa bringing me a Zen. I don't need luck i need help. lol!

I can only go on what I've seen since kiting - so not long.
Even if I said said stuff it to Rev spar prices and decided to opt for the new P2X's for general kiting, half the price but rarer (spelt right?) than hens teeth.
Letter sent to Gary Barlow for you.

Re: Mark's Revolution JB Pro thread and other unrelated complete and utter nonsense
Has anyone come across a supplier for nice thin bridle line, the sort used on Revolution kites, preferably nice and stiff like theirs, I want to change to a better matching colour on my kite.
I tried Dynema but I don't like it.
Also, someone else was loking for 12mm vinyl end caps - see any?

Re: Mark's Revolution JB Pro thread and other unrelated complete and utter nonsense
There is a chandlry shop in maldon... down the hill from the highstreet towards the tesco's. I`m pretty sure i have seen some 1mm or 1.5mm line from english braids, which seem to be the main supplier in UK. Pretty sure it is same stuff sold by the main kite retailers in UK.
If i remember rightly what i saw was black at around 30 or 40p per meter. Will pick some up neck time i am in that neck of the woods (possibly saturday)

Thanks G - but don't get any for me unless it's the biz, I already have some of the ficker varieties from Highwaymen and also some Bensons bridle.
Think I know the place you mean, bottom of the hill.

That's also what they did at roughly the time of the Quad Day, it was 12% then and the Pro was taken off the web site.

Re: Mark's Revolution JB Pro thread and other unrelated complete and utter nonsense
You could still give Kiteworld a call, I suppose you can still put an order in but at the usual price. Press option 3 to haggle.
The sooner the better, Bazzer must also be busy with the Zen, port, mince pies, yule logs, Christmas cakes and turkeys... Oh (ho ho) and of course the holidays.
Next year the prices may even go up again! Your home may be at risk if you do not keep up the payments, terms and conditions apply.
That will be 3 Pro Rev's in the club soon, Colin has a nice blue one coming by sleigh mail.
